The theme for 2019 is Leadership for a Sustainable America

The American Water Summit is about bringing together the leaders from across the public and private sectors to address the challenges facing water in America today. Each year those challenges are getting broader: climate change, demographic change, political change, economic change are all putting pressure on the way water works, but in those challenges there is an opportunity. Can water provide leadership for a sustainable America?

Leadership for a Sustainable America encompasses the following agenda items:

  • Financial Models for Utility Consolidation
  • Making Urban Resilience Pay
  • Can desalination make a comeback?
  • Unlocking the Digital Opportunity
  • Corporate Water Performance

Alongside these items, we will again be hosting the Leading Utilities of the World Initiative, providing some of the top performing utilities in the world with a platform to share their innovations.

For the first time we are also scheduling two roundtable discussion sessions. The first on day one will address the 20 Most Pressing Questions for the American water industry and the second on day two will present the 20 Largest Water Projects currently on the drawing board.

Agenda format

The American Water Summit once again offers a busy 3-day agenda, with a pre-conference workshop on November 12th, and the main agenda taking place on November 13th and 14th.

Technology Futures
From digital to the resource revolution – waves of disruption are impacting the world of water. How can the American water industry lead the way in proactive technological development and adaption?
Climate Change
Explores how planning for an uncertain climate is now an upmost priority for US water utilities. How do we make climate adaptation cost-effective?
Consolidation US
