Brian Chin

Senior Vice President, Planning and Strategy Integration, American Water

Biography

Brian Chin is Senior Vice President of Planning and Strategy Integration for American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company. In this role, he serves on company’s Executive Leadership Team and leads strategic and financial planning in the areas of analysis, tax and acquisitions.

Chin has approximately two decades of experience covering utilities, regulatory frameworks and environmental policy. Prior to American Water, Chin served as the lead utility equity analyst for Bank of America (BofA) Merrill Lynch Global Research. In that role, he focused on utilities (including water), infrastructure, power generation and renewables. He has deep experience in financial modeling, valuation and risk assessments.

Prior to his role at BofA Merrill Lynch, Chin was at Citigroup for 12 years, during which he was the global head of Electric Utilities Research. He is a recognized national expert in the utility sector and is extensively published on future trends affecting utilities. Chin was also a Certified Public Accountant at KPMG.

Chin received his MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and his undergraduate degree in business from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
